There has been much written already regarding DHS’s “Right-Wing Extremist” Report. Some have defended the Right-Wing report by referencing alleged “Left-Wing extremist reports” as if to prove balance. It does not. The terms Left and Right have been so intermingled into political terminology that they simply should be avoided by the Dept. of Homeland Security altogether. Extremism, specifically that which involves violence, needs to be watched, whether it comes from the Right, the Left, the Center, Top or Bottom. It’s not the role of DHS to try to define what is Left, what is Right, and what is Center. Politicians do that and I don’t believe anyone can define those explicitly without a valid counter argument. From a security perspective, the threats, the means, and the intentions mean much more than political affilitations.
